Putney Central School


Job DescriptionPutney Central School, a 186 student, PK-8 school located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley of southern Vermont, is seeking a skilled paraprofessional, preferably with experience in grades 1-3, to support Tier I and Tier II instruction in literacy and math. Knowledge of Reading Street and Engage NY, as well as VTMTSS would be a plus, as would experience with PBiS. Flexibility, creativity, some knowledge of (or willingness to learn) place-based education and a sense of humor are essential, as is a willingness to function as part of a teaching team aimed at supporting learners at all levels. A minimum of two years of post-secondary education; degree not required. This position is at wage grade(WG 3)/hourly rate within the wage grade "based upon experience" (15.56-21.56), based on a 6.5 hour day and 191-day school year.

3RD GRADE TEACHER
Putney Central School, a 195-student PK-8 school located on a 165 acre campus and forest in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley in southern VT, is seeking a full-time 3rd grade teacher. While the position is currently 3rd grade, the ideal candidate will have the flexibility to be re-assigned according to program needs. Experience with Engage NY and Reading Street is a plus, as is some background/knowledge of PBiS and mindfulness. Equally important is an appreciation for young learners, a love of the outdoors, and a sense of humor. Experience as a primary grade teacher preferred, but new grads are encouraged to apply. PK-8 MUSIC TEACHER, ONE-YEAR POSITION
Putney Central School, a 193-student PK-8 school located in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley in southern VT, is seeking a full-time music teacher.  The ideal candidate will have some teaching experience in an elementary/middle school setting, be able to teach students at a variety of skill and interest levels, and be willing and able to fully participate in the life of our school by participating in committee work, leading all-school sings, and collaborating with area arts and music programs.  Our goal is to provide our students with a robust music program including music history, chorus, band, and instruction on individual instruments.  An individual interested in electronic/digital music instruction would be a plus. Given current public health concerns, the capacity to be able to pivot from in-person to full-remote instruction on short notice would be essential.

This position is for the balance of the '20/21 school year.
